CBMC Presents: Donald Boyd – Work As Worship – Dec. 19th

Work As Worship Retreat:

As business leaders, you may be facing many challenges in today’s culture. Every day you are being the church as you work and lead in the community. You can be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who might not otherwise set foot in a church. In fact, some business leaders have more non-believers walk through their doors in one week than might visit a church in a year.

But it can be easy to lose sight of how our faith intersects with our role as a business leader. We’re excited to partner with First Baptist Rockville to be a launching pad to encourage and validate business leaders in your community.

Donald Boyd is Education Pastor at First Baptist Church of Rockville, where he’s responsible for ministering and overseeing Growth Groups (aka Sunday Schools), Small Groups and Education programs. Please join us this Tuesday, December 19from 6:45-8:00 AM to hear Don provide a preview of the Work as Worship Retreat that First Baptist Rockville will hosting on February 23.

The Work as Worship Retreat will include speaking from some great teachers and business leaders. Pastor Matt Chandler will teach on the biblical perspective of work and what God expects of us. Joel Manby, CEO of Seaworld, will speak on the importance of servant leadership. Patrick Lencioni, the New York Times Best-Selling Author of books like 5 Dysfunctions of a Team will also be a keynote speaker. You can learn more at www.workasworshipretreat.org.

On February 23, join thousands of business leaders across the country for a full 1-day retreat to hear from experts, be encouraged, and discuss how to connect your faith and work. The simulcast of this event will be hosted locally by First Baptist Rockville. The event will start at 8:30 AM and conclude at 3:30 PM. Registration is only $25 online.

CBMC Presents: Scott Spages, Salt & Light Council

Those of us who live and work in Montgomery County have seen many of our friends and neighbors confused or even alarmed by the past election. This can be both a barrier to spiritual conversations and an opportunity to engage in thoughtful discussion on the state of our nation in light of a biblical worldview. Understanding how our faith informs our approach to government is something Christians in any democracy need to wrestle with in order to gain a biblical foundation that anchors us as the social and political climate around us continues to change. When we address the culture in ways relevant to the problems people face today, we will see people respond. Society has largely lost its moral bearing. Jesus is the Answer, and He has given us the keys to open hearts, renew minds and make disciples.

Salt & Light Council logoPlease come and invite a friend to join us this Tuesday, December 19, to hear Scott Spages, East Coast Affiliates Manager for the Salt & Light Council discuss the importance of informed Christian citizenship.

The mission of the Salt & Light Council is to train and equip churches to establish Salt & Light Biblical Citizenship Ministries that will defend and promote life, natural marriage, our constitutional and religious liberties. Scott works with churches, help their members rediscover the joy and privilege of being a citizen of the United States – under God – and preserving, as salt does, our Judeo-Christian Heritage.

Scott Spages has been a servant leader and sales and marketing professional for 25 years. He has been a disciple at Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale since 2001 and began Faith Forum, a community group and ministry here six years ago. Also, he has served in the community, having helped in many roles including Leadership Miami, the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Foundation and the Town of Davies’s, Budget Advisory and Charter Review Committees.

Scott was born and raised in New Jersey, where he has very strong family ties. Growing up he played many sports (baseball & soccer), where he developed his strong competitive spirit and his teamwork ethic. He has extensive business experience with more than twenty years experience selling capital equipment, and medical devices. Scott also has experience as a political and campaign consultant and strategist. He’s a focused and intuitive professional offering a passion for strategic leadership and team building. His current hobbies include bicycling, hiking and salsa dancing.
